Memory is such a huge component of a lot of things – doing well on tests, doing well socially (by remembering people’s names) and you can increase that memory with a very simple trick.
So, memory and memorization…you’re doing it wrong.
Most of us use word associations and boring repetition to memorize things. It works, but not well. If you want to remember more and in the right order, you need to create a story.
We’ve all done this a little bit with songs that we used as kids to memorize things. For example, the number of days per month, “30 days has September, April, June and November, etc.” The song creates the story and the story creates VISUALIZATION.
Watch this great video that outlines the difference between the two with a couple of challenges thrown in. I took the challenges and even though I scored fairly well on the verbal, the visual results blew me away. I think they’ll do the same for you.
